The Fables and their Morals cards are loose with no album and are an incomplete set of nine cards. The majority of the cards are marked as series 1 with one card being an exception which is not although it is still believed to be a series one card with the reason for this anomaly thought possibly to be a result of it being from an earlier produced batch. The cards identifiable as series 1 cards have the reference numbers: 7, 12, 27, 46, 65, 66, 78 and 98. The reference number on the anomalous card is difficult to ascertain as part of it has faded but the number is thought to be either 58 or 68. The cards are believed to have been issued by Gallaher Ltd in 1922. There is varying discolouration apparent to the cards and various creases, stains, dirt, foxing and imprinted marks on them as well as some of the images and printed detailing on them appearing scuffed and worn with the visual appearance of some cards more affected than others as a result. The card with the reference number 65 is torn part way from the left side edge. The edges of the cards are varyingly scuffed, softened and worn with some indentions apparent in some as well as rounding to the tips of the corners which appear varyingly dog-eared. The cards are curved which is most apparent when they are stacked together. The approximate size of each card is 68mm x 38mm. The approximate combined weight of the nine cards is 7g.
