offered is a very nice Austrian 1950's art deco "Champ-o-matic" petrol automatic windproof pocket lighter. the nickel silver plated lighter features an unusual 8 slot windshield design with mock lizard wrap case on body. the oversize unusual shape insert pulls out to fuel and flint. the underside is marked "Champ-o-matic" patent Austria. the lighter was manufactured by the Karat machine metal works of Vienna Austria. Karat was an important maker of lighters and was started by Arthur Dubsky. i have shown the patent for the pocket version dating 1955 and photo from French ballet automatique lighter book. the lighter measures about 2" tall x 1-1/2" wide and is in good to very good used sparking condition. the mechanism snaps up correctly with strong snap up sparking action and will work with added petrol fuel . overall - a fun 1950's art deco automatic Dubsky "Champ-o-matic" windproof lighter for your collection.
