This Linn Majik DS is an audiophile level digital media streamer with the internal Linn Dynamik power supply. It was purchased new by me (as a store demo) from an authorized Linn retailer. As you would expect from Linn Products, the Majik DS has an outstanding detailed sound, generally better than any CD player or other DAC set-up that I have used.
I have used it to stream high definition FLAC music files from a Network Attached Storage device and music from the “Qobuz” streaming service, working flawlessly for all the years I have owned it. It is a pleasure to invite friends to name a favorite “album”, then cue it up in Qobuz using the Linn app on my smart phone, thus serving it to the Majik DS in “high-definition” audio.
Please note:
1) This is the Majik DS, it is a component “network player” that plugs into the RCA inputs of a pre-amp, an integrated amp or a receiver. It plays digital files stored on your network, or from a streaming services such as Qobuz, Tidal, etc.. It is NOT the Majik DSM model, which is both a network player and an amplifier. Nor does my Majik DS have an HDMI input.
2) It does not have WiFi, digital input is via an Ethernet connector on the back of the unit. Typically, an Ethernet cable is used to connect this unit to a router or internet switch.
3) Some basic computer skills are required to set up the unit in your home network, as well as downloading Linn software to control the unit from your smart-phone, tablet, laptop, etc.
