NGC GENUINE Silver Tram of King Levon I of Cilicia / Armenia - Third Crusade

Levon the Magnificent ascended to the throne of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia on January 6, 1198. Also known as Leo in the Western world, Levon played a significant role in the Third Crusade. "Little Armenia" served as a steadfast Christian stronghold against Islamic expansion until its demise in 1375. Depicted on the coin is a regal figure, seated on a lion-adorned throne with a footstool beneath his feet, holding a cross and fleur-de-lis in his left hand. On the reverse side, two lions stand back to back with a two-barred patriarchal cross between them.
