We
are both the oldest surviving members of our families. As life-long
collectors, and inheritors from those who have Gone Before, we must move
on some of our Stuff before that (hopefully far-off) day when it
becomes our children’s responsibility. Happy to combine for cheaper
postage but PLEASE WAIT for combined invoice from me or ask me for one;
postage discounts can only be given on combined purchases paid for on a single invoice.

1934 AUSTRALIAN VICEROY TEA ADVERTISING DUKE OF GLOUCESTER AUSTRALIA VISIT #14
The royal visit of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester (1900–74), was a highlight of 1934. He was the third son of King George V and came to Australia to take part in celebrations for the centenary of the establishment of Victoria.
Viceroy Tea was an Australian blend; the proprietors Messrs Wilkinson & Co, wholesale and manufacturing grocers in Adelaide, were well-known for entrepreneurial stunts, such as balloon ascents and bicycle races. Here they linked their name with an appropriate Royal Visit. An interesting piece of Australian advertising memorabilia.
White ceramic souvenir mug with blue transfer photographic impression portrait of the Duke of Gloucester in his military regalia, with the text 'H.R.H. THE DUKE OF GLOUCESTER' underneath the image. On the opposite side of the mug is the text "H.R.H THE DUKE OF GLOUCESTER'S VISIT' '1934' 'VICEROY TEA SOUVENIR'”. 7.5 cms tall, backstamped for T G Green & Co Ltd Church Cresley Made in England. Slight discolouration around the rim and in bottom edge, but good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing; good strong transfer print.
