Beautiful 1930s tray

We have a collection of these trays, please check our other items.

These are some info from the previous owner that I thought are very detailed and informative

The Bauhaus-inspired geometric design on this bar tray features staggered, streamlined modernist stripes, with sharply angled bars ending in three circular balls. The striking pattern is reverse painted with banding in metallic silver and warm toffee brown on a deep buttery yellow ground; the wooden frame and inbuilt handles are also painted yellow - a most unusual colourway for such an item. The under-glass airbrushed or spray-painted design is completely intact, and the tray is perfectly stable, firm and fully usable.

The backing and frame are made of wood, and the wooden handles are curved over in the classic art deco style. I have seen similar stylish trays made by a company called Rufra in the town of Wasungen in Germany, but I believe this one is French; it has no identifying marks. They were intended as cocktail bar trays, but could equally well be used for a lady's cosmetics or perfumes on a dressing table. The tray measures 31 cm long, by about 19.5 cm wide, and weighs 476 gms.
