Painting with a dark background, deliberately dark and theatrical, where the witches surround Macbeth and at the bottom right a child holds a twig in his hands (in reference to the third prophecy, see photo). Painting adorned with a 20th century carved, lacquered and gilded wooden frame deliberately treated to highlight signs of wear (see photo). Painting that has undergone conservative restoration, relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in various places (see photo).
