This beautiful insect pin is a wonderful example of antique Vauxhall glass jewelry from the early Victorian (ca1850) era! The 3-dimensional brooch depicts a large fly, which includes deep red Vauxhall glass wings in a traditional brass setting. The pointed wings are lightly faceted along the edges, and display the reflective "mirror-like" quality that is unique to Vauxhall glass. Blue glass eyes, a lightly textured brass body, and 6 curved legs add further detail to the stylish design. Hidden on the underside of the piece is a simple bar pin with a "c-catch" closure, perfect for fastening to a favorite garment. This unusual piece is perfect for the antique collector or insect jewelry lover!

Measurements: The pin measures 1 5/8" long, 1 1/8" wide, and 3/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the brass setting or to the Vauxhall glass. The bar pin remains secure and in good working condition.
