Offering a vintage and iconic SHURE SM5B Dynamic Microphone, with desk stand & cable. * Free Shipping* This mic was released in 1964 and discontinued in 1988 and is considered to be one of the best dynamic voice-over mics of all time. The SM5B is a "blimp style" mic with two massive gray windscreens. (These foams are brand new, never used.) The mic was originally favored for motion picture use in its ability to block wind noise, and that is also what made them such a great voice-over/DJ mic. You could get right up on it to capture all of the voice resonance without the risk of plosives..(no popping P's!) As long as you're in front of the mic; it sounds great, even at 12 inches. It also had a humbucking coil, which prevents any mechanical equipment and speakers in the studio from causing the hum.
This SM5B is in nearest mint condition wit barely any sign of wear. Note: This mic came from a major market union radio station, where the jocks were not allowed to handle the microphone, so it was kept from normal wear from usage. The cloth-insulted wire is not frayed, the mic holds the tilt angle firmly and has been tested...it sounds fab! (Nothing modified!) The only thing on this mic that was changed are the
brand new front and rear foams, plus new internal foam blast filter. The connecting thread is a standard 5/8" for interfacing with any modern stand or boom, and a male XLR connector is fastened to the mic's yoke. The heavy Altec desk stand IS INCLUDED, plus new 6 foot XLR extension cable. ** Audio sample can be heard on the listing video. Safe secure packaging and FREE shipping. **
