TWO Antique Schering’s Formalin Brass Medicinal Lamps c 1899

Schering's Formalin Lamp is a medicinal lamp. Early ads claimed: "Annihilates germs, removes odors, prevents disease, hastens convalescence..." This lamp was produced by the company of Schering & Glatz in New York City, with offices at 58 Maiden Lane.

The Schering Formalin Lamp conforms to patent number 630,782 titled "Disinfecting By Means Of Formaldehyde." The patent was granted on August 8, 1899 to Albrecht Schmidt of Berlin, Germany.

Auction is for two bases, one glass and one top, as well as an extra hurricane that fits the solo base nicely (as purchased many years ago in an antique shop).

The words SCHERLING’S FORMALIN LAMP is written around each base. Patent Applied For is on the bottom of each base.
