Vintage Caro-Nan wooden basket purse hand-painted and signed. This is a "Lucky Penny" version and has references to places in historic Illinois State Capital, Springfield. There are painted signs referencing Bressmer's, Lincoln's Home, Adams Street and although misspelled, there's a reference to "Malanders" (which corrected should read as "Maldaner's)" I actually love the little misspelling because it makes this specialty purse all the more rare.
There are naturally some wear areas and scuffs to the hand-painted sides but the decoupaged top stickers are in great shape. The wooden handle is sturdy and moves appropriately on its hinges. The lid moves fine as well, although it seems a little "off-center" but that's just the nature of things when working with materials like this...none is perfect and no two are alike.  The lining is still present with bright red fabric and no tears. I wiped it down with a very lightly damp cloth and let it air dry but it could probably use a better cleaning at the very bottom of it, where all of the former owners purse-goodies were contained.

This is so very beautiful and unique, I really am tempted to keep it for myself. It's amazing that it's in such great shape for being over 50 years old. It's a special item if you have ties to The Land Of Lincoln (Springfield, Illinois) or simply to love it for it's hand-crafted beauty.

Please see all photos as they are a part of the description. If you need more pictures or have any questions at all, feel free to ask and I will be very happy to help! I'm not a "big store/seller", rather I'm just doing this as a fun hobby to spread these unique vintage finds out so others can enjoy them too. You will always receive a personal touch from me. I am experienced in packaging vintage and fragile items and I ship out very quickly (usually the day of payment or the next business day) as I know a buyer wants to get their item fast.
Thank you for looking.
