National NC-125

National Model NC-125 radio receiver, manufactured from 1950 through 1956. The radio has 11 tubes and continuous frequency coverage from 560 kc to 35 Mc. The radio is designed for reception of amplitude modulated voice or music and CW signals. The selectivity characteristic is adjustable over a wide range from broadband broadcast requirements to sharp amateur CW reception. The adjustable selectivity is accomplished by the well known (at that time) Select-O-Ject variable audio frequency circuit.

The frequency coverage of the receiver is:

This radio has been restored, check out all those new Cornell-Dublier capacitors in the chassis. The line cord is also modern. It plays and it plays well! Check out the video of it playing here. Despite my rather low quality communications test speaker, the audio from this receiver was surprisingly rich. All controls do what they are supposed to do and there is no scratchy noises.  The dial cords are tight.  The only flaws are a surface rust on the top of the copper chassis (which wi, some light surface rust on the cabinet itself, and the little chrome inserts on the tuning and band spread knob have fallen off. While I hesitate to use the word rare to describe any radio, the NC-125 is certainly less prevalent than the later NC-135, and it is rare on eBay to find one that works.

Yes, it's a heavy beast, you are welcome to come pick it up. International buyers if the eBay shipping rate is too high I will quote Pirate Ship which is sometimes lower.  There are people asking upwards of $400 for working NC-125's here, I am open to offers but am not giving it away.

Thanks for looking! 73 W8VCK

About Us

We sell antiques, collectables, clothes, oddities, household goods, records, and all sorts of fun things. We're an ordinary couple with full time jobs who love garage sales, auctions, estate sales, consignment stores, and thrift stores. We are always on the hunt for unique, vintage, and beautiful items.

Take a look around, our inventory is constantly changing. If you want to get to know us, visit our You Tube Channel The Adventures of Yorksie and Me.

Shipping

Our items are well-packed, generally in NEW boxes, with plenty of bubble pack and peanuts.

We prefer to ship with the post office, offering Priority or Ground service. Modern automated postal handling machines are not kind to fine antiques and collectables, and despite our best efforts at diligent packaging we have had items destroyed, and a few have simply vanished. For this reason, we will not ship any item with a value greater than $25 without adding insurance. As eBay has no way to do this, the insurance is added as a handling fee.

Large, heavy items we ship UPS ground. As we live 15 minutes from the nearest UPS store, please be patient with us when purchasing a large, heavy item.

Any of our items are available for pickup at our Pinckney Michigan location. If you choose to pickup, either pay on eBay or bring cash, we do not take checks.

If the item shows up damaged, destroyed, or doesn't show up at all YOU need to work with us, and the post office (or UPS).

We get a lot of complaints about shipping costs. We don't know what shipping cost you were quoted. eBay quotes the shipping cost using post office or UPS API's that return the rates. The rates change frequently. When you purchase the item, we buy the shipping from eBay, print the label, and drop it off to the post office or the UPS store. Please don't ask us to "reduce the shipping cost" - we can't. It is not under our control. Buyers complain that "our shipping cost is high" we aren't marking it up, we are packaging it well. Please don't counteroffer with "X amount including shipping" as we do not know what the shipping cost to your location is.

Warranty

Nothing we sell is new. These are used items. Everything is sold AS-IS unless explicitly stated otherwise.

For electronic items, if they work, will add a video of it working. We sell a lot of vintage electronic items that are 20, 30, 40, and even 80 years old, and they do not take kindly to being shipped. If it worked when it left our store, it worked when it left our store. If it doesn't work, we will clearly state this in the description. Please, if you're buying vintage electronics, READ THE DESCRIPTION. If it says "For Parts or Repair Only", or we indicate we couldn't test it, and it doesn't work when it arrives, it is because it didn't work when it left our store! Please don't demand we return it and threaten us with a negative review because it doesn't work when we told you it didn't. Read the Description, know what you are buying, and everyone will be happy. The days of the Yellow Sheet are over. We have sold amateur and CB radios to people who hooked them up backwards, transmitted without an antenna, dropped them so hard the cases were cracked nearly in half - and then accused us of selling them a broken radio. Be reasonable, communicate with us, we'll do our best to make everybody happy if you are honest with us.

For Amateur Radio gear that transmits, we do not offer any returns.
