Superb light weight 1956 Custom shop Stratocaster, 7.4 lbs. Complete with all case candy, case and certificates. Two piece premium Ash body with maple 10/56 soft v neck, 9.5" radius, it's a supremely comfortable neck. Its thin nitro two tone sunburst finish is heavily reliced. Originally fitted with a three way switch and a set of fat 50s Custom Shop pickups, these have been changed for a set of Bare knuckle 'Apache' pickups and a 5 way switch. The new owner will have the original CS pickups and switch if they wish to return it to stock. They could of course sell them and that would reduce the overall cost but I have kept everything together for the next owner. I much prefer the 'apache' set though, the bridge has a steel base plate fitted so its fuller sounding, the covers are aged parchment so they blend with the relic look of the guitar. The Apache set is reverse wound so hum cancelling in the in-between positions. The apaches were recommended to me by the luthiers at Richmond guitar works and all work on the guitar was undertaken by them. This actual guitar I was told featured on the front cover of guitar and bass magazine as its was originally owned by a staff member there. I'd have thought if it was owned by a staff member, it must be a good one! I don't know this for certain but I do have a copy of the magazine from the time. Its a classic looking guitar and a wonderful sounding example of a 50s strat. Everything is fat, clean and clear from string to string, allowing it to take overdrive/dirt well and not get mushy. Will make someone very happy indeed! I'll be sad to see it go but happy to keep and carry on enjoying it. On collection the new owner can inspect the guitar and plug in to check it over. They are such personal things guitars if the winner had a change of heart I would refund no problem. Its important to me your're happy with it and safe in the knowledge you'll get years of pleasure playing and owning it.
