Presented here is a 70’s Vintage Timex UFO Great Britain Case Women’s Windup Watch

This 70’s vintage timepiece pairs the purity, precision and pleasure of a hand-wound mechanical movement with the retro appeal of a UFO style case.

This watch features a 28 mm UFO style chrome plated case that was made in Great Britain. It houses a simple yet elegant silver dial with Breguet style Arabic numeral indices and an easy to read red seconds hand that adds a nice pop of color. The dial is signed TIMEX – WATER RESISTENT. Inner case back is signed CASE GREAT BRITAIN with a MLW*** stamp. I could not find a number code on the dial which is not uncommon with vintage Timex women’s watches, but makes it difficult to accurately date the watch. It is powered by a Timex mechanical hand wound movement. The watch is fitted with an aftermarket Hadley Roma stainless steel expansion watch bracelet that appears to have been recently changed and complements the watch well.

For a watch that is ~ 50 years old, it is in great shape. The case has chrome plating intact on the top but there is some brassing / plating loss on the bottom that cannot be seen when the watch is worn.  The dial is very clean with lettering intact. Crystal does have scratches but allows time to be comfortably read. Crown shows brassing. Movement winds easy and keeps reasonably good time for a vintage mechanical watch (obviously no quartz accuracy). Watch band appears like new / recently changed and complements the watch well.

All pictures have been taken on the macro setting to show detail. This makes even the slightest imperfections, shadows during photography, and specks of dust appear much more prominent even though they are often not visible without magnification.
