Innenansicht der "Chapelle expiatoire" (Sühnekapelle) mit umhergehenden Figuren. Sie ist eine Gedenkstätte für Ludwig XVI und dessen Frau Marie Antoniette. Im Innern der Kapelle ist - dies wird auf unserer Darstellung ersichtlich - reiches Dekor zu bestaunen; in den Nischen der Mauern elaborierte Kerzenständer; nach Thomas Talbot Bury; Illustration von 'Paris and its Environs'.

  • Description: Titled and inscribed below the picture: "T.T. Bury del.", "A. Pugin dirext.", "B. Winkles sc." and publication line: "Robert Jennings & William Chaplin, Cheapside, December 1, 1830". Numbering in another hand on verso: "1053 / 1" and illegible designation of the collector's name. Interior view of the "Chapelle expiatoire" (Atonement Chapel) with figures walking around. It is a memorial to Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoniette. The interior of the chapel is richly decorated, as can be seen in our illustration, with elaborate candlesticks in the niches of the walls; after Thomas Talbot Bury; illustration from 'Paris and its Environs'.
