  • Beschreibung: Rechts oben oberhalb der Darstellung auf Platte nummeriert "42." Der Jüngling Amor sitzt Als Hüter der Liebe vor seinem blütenbekrönten Stab und streckt die Rechte nach den Trauben, die daran emporwachsen aus. Köcher und Pfeile liegen unbeachtet vor ihm am Boden. Die Radierung stammt aus einem 1875 erschienenen Album mit 42 kleinformatigen Radierungen von Moritz von Schwind und Gedichten/Versen Ernst Freiherr von Feuchterslebens zum Thema "Rauchen" und "Trinken" (In vino veritas). Der erläuternde Text zu dieser Darstellung im Album lautet: "So im holden, leichten Spiele wächst der Knabe still heran; ernste, tiefere Gefühle künden sich im Jüngling an. Längst verspielt sind alle Blüthen - da erkennt er seine Pflicht: heil'ge Früchte streng zu hüten - mehr kann selbst die Liebe nicht."

  • Date: 19th century

  • Description: Numbered "42." on the plate at the top right above the depiction. The youth Cupid sits as guardian of love in front of his flower-crowned staff and stretches out his right hand towards the grapes growing up from it. Quiver and arrows lie unnoticed on the ground in front of him. The etching is from an album published in 1875 with 42 small-format etchings by Moritz von Schwind and poems/verses by Ernst Freiherr von Feuchtersleben on the subject of "smoking" and "drinking" (In vino veritas). The explanatory text for this depiction in the album reads: "Thus in fair, light play the boy grows quietly; serious, deeper feelings announce themselves in the youth. All the blossoms have long since faded - then he recognises his duty: to strictly guard the holy fruits - even love cannot do more.
