Superb antique Royal Mail Steam Packet Shipping Company Wine Bottle Holder / Stand / Coaster. 

It most likely came from one of their ships, may be even from the captains table :)

The crest here has the motto “Per Mare Ubique”, which in Latin means “Everywhere by the Sea(s)”. This is the motto used by the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, which operated from 1839 to 1932.

Elkington silver plate, good quality piece. 

Made in Birmingham around 1880

About 5" high. It would fit any bottle in a diameter of 3.25" or less. 

Condition: good used with some signs of wear. There are few small corrosion marks, some fine surface scratches etc. One side of the bottom plate is very slightly bent up (see the last photo)
