Shohonyama  Yaginoshima Awasedo Natural Whetstone
Set of 5

Description

This is an assortment set from Nakayama Awasedo.
This is an assortment of koppa, which are too large to be used as Nagura stones and a little too small to be used as regular grinding stones.
Nakayama's koppa stones are generally considered hard, but there is a wide range in the level of hardness, with some being soft and others very hard.
Therefore, this product is recommended for those who want to try out different types of grinding stones with different characteristics.
The surface is a little rough, but this is due to the fact that no finishing process is performed.
For this reason, we are able to offer this product at a lower price.
If the purchaser finishes the surface on his/her own, the surface will be very beautiful.
Please judge the size of the whetstone by looking at the picture.
It may be difficult to tell the thickness of the grinding stones, but they vary from about 1 cm to over 3 cm.
Weights are as follows.
Pattern A: about 900g
Pattern B: approx. 900g
Pattern C: approx. 900 g
Pattern D: approx. 830 g
Pattern E: approx. 900 g
Pattern F: approx. 950 g
Weights may vary slightly.
Please consider that the grain size is 8000 or more.
Some Suji can be seen on the surface of the grinding wheel, but in most cases it will not damage the ground metal.
For reference, here is a video of sharpening with Nakayama's Koppa.
Brown Suji and thin line Suji do not hit the blade, so the Koppa in the video can be used for clean sharpening.
Thick black shiny Suji may hit the blade.
If this is a concern, you can use the whetstone by avoiding the Suji location or by digging out the Suji.
Please note: We cannot respond to inquiries about individual pieces because we do not carefully examine each piece for bulk items. Instead, we will offer them at a discount.
