Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage Realistic model 1001Aa 4 inch wide-range woofer that was removed from my single-driver Minimus 0.5 speakers, manufactured c.1976. This mid/bass unit may also have been used in other period offerings from Radio Shack, but the buyer will need to make that determination based on their intended application.

So, please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable Realistic driver is correct for your needs.

This Realistic driver is in clean, excellent condition. The sturdy paper cone is structurally flawless and the textile voice coil dustcap is perfect as well. Plus, the inverted surround is permanent textile instead of the fragile foam suspension that was widely used in those years. And, the anodized steel basket has no dings or scratches, just a bit of finish wear on the magnet cover plate and some epoxy residue next to the mount holes. Lastly, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this little extended-range woofer is very well-preserved.

Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds great—clean, detailed midrange extending deep into treble and surprisingly stout low end for the platform size. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 7.6Ω, consistent with a nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket measures 4⅛” diameter, they stand about 1⅝” tall, and the mounting holes are spaced 2¾” adjacent / 3⅞” diagonal apart, c-t-c.

As pictured and described, this Realistic 4” wide-range woofer is offered at a competitive price.
