Squidder Anti-Reverse Cancelling Feature;
I have heard stories where some anglers love the anti-reverse cancelling feature and some anglers that despise this factory Squidder feature. I have seen many Squidders with this factory feature very crudely "hacked out" to disable it. Grinding the tiny eccentric cam lobe off the cam barrel internally inside the reel is common. Also removing the activation lever or completely removing the lever and eccentric cam barrel and filling the resulting hole in the side plate with silicone. All of this butchery can be totally avoided. If you desire to defeat this factory function neatly without permanently removing any parts and/or hacking up any vintage parts. The activation lever can be temporarily removed from the outside of the reel by removing the retainer screw and then rotating the eccentric barrel cam either direction 180 degrees with a tiny pair of needle nose pliers and then re-attaching the activation lever with the retaining screw. Now the reel will operate 100% in the anti-reverse handle mode. Just like the majority of Penn reels. Moving the activation lever now intentionally and/or unintentionally has no effect on the handle anti-reverse operation - the reel remains in a constant anti-reverse configuration. Best part is this was accomplished without hacking anything up and it can be easily re-configured back to the original factory function if desired. If the winning bidder of this reel is an angler who does not like this anti-reverse cancelling feature, I will be glad to re-configure this feature as described above prior to shipping the reel out upon request.
