DESCRIPTION

A first edition copy of this work, published 1924.

With extensive and beautifully shot monochrome photographic plates taken by the author. Collated complete.

Written and photographed by E.L. Turner, this work is a thoughtful account of various species of bird in the Norfolk Broads. As the author writes in the preface, "it is not a book for the scientist nor the collector, but for the bird-lover, who may be either, or neither...or all three".

Author Emma Louise Turner (1867-1940) became interested in photography after meeting wildlife photographer Richard Kearton in 1900 and shortly after joined the Royal Photographic Society. She travelled extensively around the UK and Europe to photograph various birds, but her main base was in the Norfolk Broads.
