This is a superb quality solid silver chatelaine thimble holder with solid silver hallmarked thimble dated for 1898.
The solid silver thimble holder is in superb condition, clearly marked 925 to the base, most probably imported around the turn of the Century. The silver thimble is hallmarked for HG&S Ltd for Henry Grffith & Sons Ltd with the letter code 'y' for 1898.
The holder is in superb condition, with lid closing neatly with a 'snap'. The opening of the thimble has lost some of its roundness which I amsure could be easily rectified. It has a wonderfully intricate pattern and a row of piercings near the top which are breathing holes for the wearer.
The pair have a superb aged patina which I have not polished as this may be the wish of the new owner.
