Globe Wernicke antique glass fronted bookcase with 5 shelvesand a drawer at the bottom.

It is commonly referred to as a ‘barrister’s bookcase.’

It is a striking piece of furniture and is similar to the one featured in several scenes in the film Roma directed by Alfonso Cuarónin.

It has some marks to the unit commensurate with its age, but nothing serious.  The glass doors all work.  The drawer handles at the base ofthe bookcase have been changed at some point but it would be easy to change them back if originals can be sourced.

• The height of the unit is 178cm
• The width of the unit is 87cm
• The depth of the unit is 34cm
• The largest books on the bottom shelf would be around 30cmheight by 24cm
• The second shelf up takes books up to around 25cm height by24cm
• The top three shelves take books up to around 20cm by 20cm
• The width of the drawer at the base of the unit is 80cm wideby 25cm and a 10cm depth

The bookcase has been in my family for over 50 years, I estimate it to be well over 100 years old.

The unit is easy to assemble and disassemble and takes less than 10 minutes to complete with no tools required.

The bookcase breaks down in to seven separate sections and can fit in the back of a Ford Focus hatchback.
