This little book is not intended for a catalogue though it contains a few pictures of Detroit Jewels just to show their general style. The main purpose of the pamphlet is to give the public some idea of the utility, practicability and economy of the Gas Range, particularly the Detroit Jewel." Filled with recipes and cooking tips, this book offers a unique glimpse into the past and showcases the innovation of gas cooking in the early 1900s. An advertising pamphlet pretending to be a recipe book and manual measures 7" x 4 1/2” and was published by Detroit Stove Works in 1901. It is chock full of wonderful period recipes such as Fish Salami, Cream of Spinach Soup, Sponge Jelly Roll, Baking Powder Biscuit, and Potato Caramel Cake. Gorgeous art deco style graphics on the front cover in black, gray, and red. There are some small folds and a few dog eared corners and the cover & binding are strong and all pages are intact.
