LILIAN HARVEY 'SPANISH DANCE'
Depiction of the actress and dancer Lilian Harvey with a dark wig, walking in a long dress with a low cut at the back and decorated with an elaborate floral pattern, holding her skirt up behind her with her right hand, her head slightly lowered and her left hand placed on her hip .
The figure is supported by a flower vase and is based on a black, faceted oval base, artist signature 'Dakon' on the back of the vase.
The model for this model was probably a photo by Alexander Binder, published in the magazine 'Uhu' 4.1927/28, H.10, July, p. 54, illustration for the article: Becker, Kurt: Lilian, the girl with 100 faces .
LILIAN HARVEY (1906 - 1968), actually Lilian Pape, was a British-German actress, singer and dancer. From 1923 she attended the ballet school of the German State Opera and received her first paid performances as a dancer in Hungary and Austria. She made a total of 12 films with Willy Fritsch, and in 1930 her decisive breakthrough came with the romantic comedy film LIEBESWALZER. In 1931 the film 'The Congress Dances' was released, in which she sings 'Christel's Song', better known as 'That only happens once', which has remained an evergreen to this day. During the Nazi era in Germany, Lilian Harvey was unable to continue her career because of her resistance to the regime and emigrated first to southern France and then to the USA. After the war she returned to Europe and lived alternately in Germany and France, where she died in 1968.
