NGC King of Judaea AE Herod Agrippa (AD 41-44) Bronze Prutah Lower Grade

Herod Agrippa, also recognized as Herod II or Agrippa I (Hebrew: אגריפס), bore the Roman name Marcus Julius Agrippa and held the position of the final Jewish king of Judea. Born around 11 BC and passing away around AD 44, he was the grandson of Herod the Great and the father of Herod Agrippa II, marking the conclusion of the Herodian dynasty with the latter. Notably, Herod Agrippa forged connections as an acquaintance or friend with Roman emperors and actively participated in significant roles within internal Roman politics. He viciously attacked any followers of Jesus, and imprisoned the Apostle Peter. According to Acts, Agrippa was struck down by God for accepting the praise of sychophants, his body then eaten by worms.
