When we conceived the idea for Retro Electro Designs, we had a desire to produce the very best we could find in terms of unique LED lighting ideas, we have now started producing a range of clocks using upcycled vintage parts.

Retro Electro Designs are the only UK producer of
amazing, mesmerising LED pattern display LED lights. Made from upcycled, repurposed
20th Century household items and industrial
equipment.
Our
customers have been asking us for a while to produce clocks as well as lights,
and this is one of our first creations.
This
clock we have called "The Philips Time Machine" - It uses a unique
LED display panel which we designed specifically for this clock. It features 24
full colour LEDs, arranged around the clock face to show the time and to also
display many wonderful colourful display patterns. Each LED is capable of
displaying over 16 Million different Colours, and we harness the power of these
fantastic LED’s to create some amazing colourful displays on this clock.
In
the centre of the clock is a traditional red, 4 digit 7 Segment display with a
central colon, to properly show the time. It shows the time, HH:MM, and can
also show the date, DD:MM, and the year YYYY.
We
have based our clock on a vintage piece of the 1960’s, a wonderful Philips
Infraphil Infra-red lamp. These are
solid metail, made of aluminium with a wonderful chrome plated front
grill. These were introduced in 1959 to
the UK and were popular sellers throughout the whole of the 1960s, before being
superseded in early 1970.
The
Clock uses the latest electronics to keep accurate time, and it is also wi-fi
enabled. You can easily connect the clock to your wi-fi network and
then it will pick up the most accurate time from the Internet.
It
will auto adjust between BST/GMT (you can adjust the Time difference, in the
settings menu).
As
well as displaying the time, this clock can also be set to show a variety of
different display animations, it will also 'reveal' the current time in a
number of ways. You can choose what is displayed and for how long, and
you can setup a list of different displays, which will
be shown in turn.
You can choose whether to show the time on the central display and
or show the time or colourful patterns on the circular 24 LED’s – You can have
one, or the other or both being displayed at the same time.

Simple
configuration choices allow you to choose what clock display patterns to show
and how fast or slow the patterns should change. Ability to get the
clock it’s self to choose,it will cycle through all the different display
pattern options, if you want,or pick one at random, or you can get it to do a
combo – e.g. display a time pattern, followed by an animation pattern, then
pick a pattern at random, then repeat the whole cycle.
Wi-fi
Configurable Clock
This
clock contains a wi-fi system, which allows you to connect your phone, tablet,
laptop or computer to the clock, and, once connected, you can change and
configure what the clock displays, there are many different clock time patterns
to choose from, and there are also lots of different animation display patterns
to choose too. Once of the nicest features is the ‘cycle’ feature which rotates
around all of the different display patterns in turn. There is a ‘random’
pattern feature too that chooses a pattern at random, each time the pattern
cycles round. You can choose how long each pattern is displayed for
before moving on to the next one, and you can also choose the speed at which
the display moves. Slow speeds for moody relaxation, faster speeds
for party time!
