Anthalonica Wargaming 28mm The GAS Man Charity Figure -G Shorrock for the RNLI,never been painted...taken from makers website:

Graham, a brilliant-minded, funny and, caring man was an inspiration to many young men (and some ladies as well). A teacher for more than 40 years Graham worked at the King's School in Grantham, Lincolnshire for his entire career. He retired from full-time teaching in 2015, but answered the call to support the school whenever possible.

Graham and his wonderful, long-suffering wife Irene took me on like a son in 2011 when I first moved to Lincolnshire. Graham and I, as fellow history buffs, teachers and York University Graduates would chew the fat about anything and everything from how best to hit a disruptive child with a nerf gun at a range of 30ft...; to beekeeping and everything in between. We went on many trips together, everywhere and anywhere from National Trust sites to the beautiful Whitby; where he would often point out the Lifeboat station and insist on a visit to the lifeboat museum as well.

For those who didn't know Graham closely, he was a proud Lancastrian, who hailed from the  Fleetwood coast; he was an avid supporter of the RNLI all his life, not least because of the rather exciting, speedy boats they use. Some of Graham's other passions in life, other than History and his family were: Manchester United; his garden; talking and, WW2 history.  Graham was fun, often impish but always knew just when to stop; he had a love of exploring historical military tactics and was a fan of taking that one step further by consuming all things "what if?".

What if Hitler was killed before WW2?

What if the Russian Revolution had worked?

What if the USSR had invaded the US in scenes reminiscent of 'Red Dawn'?

What if Shaun of the Dead was actually real?

When I last saw Graham we talked at length about his illness; he asked me to do a couple of things for him, one of which being to immortalise him as a tabletop miniature. He wanted to be turned into a figure not out of some deep-seated vanity, but rather as a way to weaponise his illness and death as a force to do good. What Graham and I hatched was the creation of a charity figure to raise money for the RNLI, if the figure brings a smile to people's faces, perhaps a rye smile, or triggers a memory of a unique and formidable teacher, mentor and father then all the better.

Graham designed the figure himself and the very talented Anton Ducrot brought the likeness to life like a whippet after a hare, meaning Graham was able to see photos of the finished piece.

The model depicts in 28mm scale:

-His Mortarboard representing his teaching life.

-His standard issue zipped woolly pulley.

-His Graham trademarked slack and slipper combo.

-A world war 2 British army Portable No2 flamethrower, to represent his love of history.

-Garden shears as a nod to his love of his garden and lawn.

-GAS Graham Anthony Shorrock on the base.

Whether you are looking for a momento of Graham or a unique wargaming piece this figure has a lot to offer everyone.

We have produced the figure and will fund the ongoing production costs ourselves, it is the least that I can do for such a kind and generous sole; therefore the full £5 from every figure purchased will go to the RNLI. We raised over £1000 for the Ukraine appeal through the Vitaly Skakun figure that we produced earlier this year, let's see if we can raise even more in memory of the GAS man.

Please note figures are pewter and are sold unpainted, they are not suitable for children under the age of 11.

Many thanks to Neil aka:
