The 256e  Infantry formed in 1914 with the reserve battalions of 56th infantry regiment. Upon mobilization, each active regiment created a reserve regiment with its own number plus 200.

 

Wounded during Artois Campaign. Western Front.

Died “Blessures de guerre” 20th October 1914 at Sailly-Labourse, Pas-de-Calais (Ambulance 1 du 8e C.A)
