This WW2 US Navy CAPTAINS MAHOGONY NAVIGATION CASE is a beautiful memento from World War Two shipboard navigation.   There are numerous photos showing its details and remarkable condition.

  Marked on the lid in in gold letters-   "US NAVY BUSHIPS... Captains Case'"

  Issued to U.S. Navy Captains by the Bureau of Ships.   Very high quality latching polished mahogony case.  Instruments consist of two Park Instrument Company dividers and a magnifier (a quality replacement) inset on padded velvet.  Measures about  5  3/4" X 10" inches..

  These instrument were used to help plot ded reckoning positions and distance on charts, and to render arcs from sextant sights.

  A beautiful reminder of those hectic times of naval warfare during  WW2 .   80 years later it would still be a wonderful set for the Nav Station of a special offshore yacht.
