Offered for your consideration is a vintage Esterbrook Model J fountain pen, USA-manufactured c.1949. This double-jewel Esterbrook features a stunning metallic green plastic resin cap and barrel with stainless steel clip, spade-shaped J-bar fill lever, trim, and black plastic end jewels.

So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this remarkable Esterbrook pen should join your collection.

This Esterbrook Model J is in clean, excellent condition. It measures just over 5” long with the cap in place, 6⅛” with cap on top, and a hand-filling ½” wide. There are no cracks, chips, or true scratches, just a tiny nick at cap bottom and some practically invisible light scuffs from the years.

Plus, the steel parts are also in nice shape with no tarnish or pitting, though the plastic next to the barrel band has discolored at bit, as pictured. Also, the clip-to-cap fit is tight, the J-bar lever actuates correctly, and the barrel thread seats the cap positively. These Esterbrook pens were made to last by American craftsmen and last this splendid Model J certainly has!

The pen has Esterbrook’s 2668 firm medium nib which looks to be in good shape with just a slight tine misalignment. I gave the pen a repeated rinsing in cool water to chase out the residual ink from the nib, feed, sac, and cap. This also afforded the opportunity to pull/expel water with the fill lever, which it did readily. The sac seems quite pliable, so it will pull ink just like the water. Lastly, the Model J has spot-on balance, good mass, and should be a nice writer for the next owner!

As pictured and described, this stunning green Esterbrook Model J fountain pen is offered at a competitive price.
