Here are the general grading standards I follow:
- NM: Near Mint, in the 9.2 to 9.8 range.
A very well-preserved collectible that may have minor wear and small manufacturing or handling defects. Rarely will you find a book that has 0 defects, usually even the best preserved books will have 4 or 5 defects minimum. - VF: Very Fine, in the 7.5 to 9.0 range.
An attractive collectible with a moderate defect or an accumulation of small defects. The most common range for people who collect and care for their comics but read them occasionally. - FN: Fine, in the 5.5 to 7.0 range.
An above-average collectible with a major defect and some smaller defects, or a significant accumulation of small defects. - VG: Very Good, in the 3.5 to 5.0 range.
A below-average collectible with multiple moderate or even major defects. - GD: Good, in the 2.0 to 3.0 range.
A collectible that shows extensive evidence of handling with numerous moderate-to-major defects. - F: Fair, in the .5 to 1.8 range.
A very poorly handled or defaced collectible with a heavy accumulation of major defects. Some pieces may be missing.
I am a conservative grader who has graded thousands of books. However, please see pictures to confirm grade before buying.
