Wine Bottle Stopper - Black Walnut
Heavy, quality stopper made of chrome and hand turned wood top. The two clear bands on the stopper seal the bottle.
The wood used for this project is from a fallen tree on Plum Alley in Abingdon, Virginia. The tree was taken down by the city and we were fortunate to rescue quite a bit of the wood.
The wood on the stopper was hand turned on a wood lathe about 15 years ago making this a one-of-a-kind piece. My late father-in-law and I had a small company, American Penworks. We hand turned wood pens, desk accessories and other items on wood lathes. We participated in craft shows where we set up shop and demonstrated our craft while filling special orders and replacing inventory. The memories from those days are priceless. Each wood piece is protected with a coating of woodturner's finish, beeswax and linseed oil.
