This auction is for a CD of David Bowie - Rarest Live - Rare Japanese Import CD  - Santa Monica 1972. The booklet liner notes are in Japanese with titles in English. This is not the rarest Rarest Live version. There is a printing in which "Rare" is spelled with two Rs which makes it rarer than this just Rarer Live CD. The CD is in very good condition. The jewel case is a generic slimline jewel case. There is no back artwork.

There are no embellishments on this CD. There are some missed notes in places - vocal harmonies - but it is amazing how well Mick Ronson handles harmony duties. Mike Garson adds great support in places. There are only 5 musicians, in 1972 - so you get to hear Bowie before the entourage mind-set that came later. Keep in mind, this was a bootleg originally. Long live the Spiders from Mars.

Rarest Live remains a fascinating collection, a compilation drawing from the Santa Monica '72 live album, highlighted by some genuine treats -- a storming live rendition of "Queen Bitch," performed with the Station to Station-era band. The set draws from Santa Monica '72 and, to be fair, there are few better live souvenirs of Bowie than at his 1972 peak. There seems to be a little confusion about the CD as Allmusic and other sites get the wrong CD - they are confusing this CD with Rarest One Bowie. This is a much rarer rare CD but not as rare as the very rare Rrarest Live CD with typo. For those rebel rebels out there - this is denoted on Discogs as Partially Unofficial.

A review: Rather excellent Japanese import of Bowie live in concert in 1972. Excellent sound quality and a great set featuring "Space Oddity", "5 Years", "Width Of A Circle".... ah hell the whole damn thing is top notch. Only real negative aspect is it's only 40 minutes long.
