PORTLAND and the THUNDERBIRD MOTEL & RESTAURANT, originally as: 1225 N. Crosby Ave. It opened in May 1960 with 90 units and was Oregon's largest, costing $1.25 Million. It featured two dining rooms, a cocktail lounge with entertainment and a 40 foot swimming pool.


In 1961 an additional 100 rooms and conference rooms with banquet facilities and a coffee shop were added, doubling its size and costing another million to build. In 1966 the address changed to: 1225 N. Thunderbird Way. In 1988 the motel became the RED LION INN COLISEUM. Today it's a parking lot.
