Bakelite Backgammon Set- 30 Cherry Red & Butterscotch Yellow Swirl Chips 1.25"

This was my Mom's original backgammon set and dates back to the late 1930's or early 1940's.  Literally thousands of games of backgammon (we actually played Acy Deucy a navy variation on backgammon) was played on this board.  Over the last seventy years, the game started to show some wear, which would be expected considered its use.  At one point, my Mom repainted the white and red triangles on the cork board.

The leather case is still solid although it shows normal wear for a seventy year old leather game set.    The locks work and surprisingly, we still have the key that locks the board!!!

The chips, doubling cube and dice are all TESTED BAKELIGHT.  I've provided pictures of the test results.  Procedurally, I washed the chip and dice to remove any dirt.  Then performed the test and took pictures.  Then rewashed the chips and dice to remove any residual simichrome metal polish.

The Cherry Red and Butterscotch bakelight chips measure 1 1/4" in diameter and 5/16" high.  The years have not deteriorated them which speaks to the longevity of the Bakelight. Their swirl pattern is quite lovely.

There is one butterscotch piece that has a chip on it, also depicted in the photos.  See the chip that I point to with the tip of a pen.

Ebay only allows 24 photos, so I combined some photos onto a powerpoint sheet and converted it to a jpg file in order to sneak in all the photos I wanted to provide.

My pictures provide an accurate representation and should be reviewed carefully because, with apologies, I cannot accept returns.

Thank you for bidding.
