Selling my MacBook Pro 15 inch 2016 model in used but well cared-for condition.
This is a CTO (custom to order) model with the best specs available at the time, with the exception of the storage.
The MacBook Pro has been erased to factory settings, including removing from AppleID, and no Activation-Lock is present. A fresh copy of Monterey has been installed.

REPAIR HISTORY:
In late 2019 it had an under-warranty Top Case and Display replacement at the Apple Store’s Genius Bar, meaning the display, keyboard, battery, track pad, and speakers are all newer than the rest of the machine.
BATTERY:
- The battery is 4.5 years old, due to the aforementioned repair. Although macOS doesn’t give specifics on battery health percentage the “Battery Condition” is listed as “normal” in System Preferences.
FUNCTIONALITY
Everything appears to be working but I’ve tested the specifics listed below:
- Tested the 4x Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports all appear to charge the battery and transfer data successfully
- Tested charging the battery from 0% to 100% and no issues presented.
- Tested each key on the keyboard, all work with no sticking or unreliability.
- Tested TouchID is functional.
- Tested Webcam is functional.
- No ghosting, damage, discolouration, or artefacts on the display.
- Hinge and magnets all seem to be working appropriately.
COSMETIC CONDITION
As this is a used machine there are some light scuffs and scratches (please see the images for details.
- Minor dents and scratches from typical use to the hard edges of the case. No significant dents/warping.
- Light scratches to the casing from typical use.
- One light scratch to the screen just below webcam.
- Small etch in the glass mostly below the display (maybe 1-2mm onto the display, otherwise in the black bezel). Doesn’t appear to affect visibility or functionality of the display. This has remained unchanged for several years. There is no cracking glass.
- I’ve cleaned the Mac using a computer-specific spray solution (except around ports and places that would risk liquid ingress). There may be some light dust present around hinges/ports etc not affecting functionality.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Will ship inside a cardboard outer box provided by the local Apple Store from their current MacBook Shipments. Will use packing material to fill any discrepancy in space to ensure safe arrival.
- Listing includes the original box, manual, and Apple Stickers.
- Happy to provide the Genius Bar Work Confirmation for the Display and Top Case replacement upon purchase if requested.
- I’m still searching for the original receipt. If found I’m happy to provide it to the successful buyer upon request.
- I’ve chosen to obscure the Serial Number as per advice on various reseller forums. Happy to send the Serial Number to the successful buyer upon request.
- Photos taken whilst still in the reinstallation process. This has successfully completed.
- I no longer have the original charging brick or USB-C charging cable. If you don’t already have a charger the modern equivalent from Apple would be their 240w 2m USB-C Charging Cable and 96w Power Adapter (the original 85w brick is no longer sold, but I have tested using the 96w from my newer MacBook with no issue, and this is the current advice from the Apple Store).
- Whilst this machine appears to be in full working order it is now outside of Apple’s Limited Warranty, as well as outside of what Apple Australia considers to be their Consumer Law Period (typically 3 years from date of purchase/repair. As a private seller (due to upgrading to a newer model) I do not offer any personal warranty beyond what is required by eBay policy.
