You are bidding on a 16mm film print of TOPSY TURVY THEATER ep. 37 "SIR ISSAC NEWTON".
This is one episode of an early 60s children's show, in which hand puppets Thackery and Ulysses enact skits about historical and fictional characters. The show was syndicated to major TV markets in 1961 through 1962.
Some facts about this film print:
- Film was salvaged from a production company here in L.A. that went out of business and was selling off everything, including a huge lot of 16mm prints of this TV show. These are the prints that were sent out to TV stations back in the early 60's. Own a piece of history!
- Duration of this B&W film is approx. 5 min.
- In spite of this being a children's show, the humor in this film never condescends to children and seems to respect their intelligence. This episode goes over Sir Isaac Newton's discovery of the laws of gravity. Attentive viewers will notice that the chalkboard in a classroom for people who are not intelligent has "Kennedy for President" written on it, as well as incorrect math problems. So it looks like politics did intrude into this children's show at least once.
- Film has very little wear, few if any lines, and NO VINEGAR ODOR. I did notice some occasional speckling but I think the film just needs cleaning.
The film comes on 1 x 200' metal reel.
Film will ship via media mail, paid by bidder.
This print is from my collection, sold from one collector to another. No theatrical screening rights are licensed or implied with the sale of this film, it is intended for "home use" only.
