Miles Mason Bat Printed Classical Scenes Gilt Coffee Can c1810

A lovely early Miles Mason bat printed coffee can c1808-1813. Mason produced a number of printed items with classical scenes around this time, sometimes in black and sometimes in red, with many of these patterns unnumbered. This particular pattern is 349 (1808-1813), characterised by having a thick gold band at the rim and no band at the bottom. The can features a gilt loop-handle with single rest and a thick gilt band to the rim. The print is of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, riding a chariot with her son Eros holding a flaming torch.

The can is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is some slight wear to the gilt rim, more pronounced to the side opposite the handle.

The coffee can is 6cm high, 6.5cm diameter rim to rim and weighs 106g.
