True antique Dress

Stunning original incredibly rare & special Antique dress, I think it dates from around the 1920's or maybe a little earlier maybe just before , I'm not an expert,  just appreciate lovely things

I'm sure who ever purchases this item will be thrilled with it

I've had this for years on display time to move on

I think this is a bespoke quality hand made dress & would have been very expensive 

The dress is in fabulous antique condition, though the lemon silk inside bodice section has shattered as shown in the photos & has age spots, the outside is in fabulous condition

To the inside of the Dress you can see the tiny stitches which have been used for the beading , all hand sewn 

The front fastens with little press studs

Beading to cuffs & hem line

Sheer mesh sleeves & a mesh layer over the bottom half of the dress covering the lemon silk

Two tassels to the ends of each cuff

A couple of oh so tiny holes in the mesh at the skirt section

The upper half of the dress is black silk with long sections attatched which fall down the sides of the dress , covered silk buttons detailing down the centre of each of these with beading at the ends & a tassel 

Across the rear section are covered silk buttons with tassels beneath , this section fastens with tiny press studs beneath , the same detail is at the front but these are sewn into place

To the back of the dress where it fastens the mesh where has been edged has become unfastened leaving a raw edge, this could be turned over / re hemmed to make it a little neater

I wouldn't advise wearing this as it would be too fragile, I think its of museum quality & needs looking after but if you did want to wear it the lining in the upper bodice would have to be replaced
