This is a beautiful solid silver napkin ring produced during the reign of Queen Victoria. It is smothered in bright cut engraved floral motifs and scrolls, a true reflection of the Art Nouveau period during which it was made. There is a lightly engraved dedication on the napkin ring showing ‘AN’. These are probably the initials of the original owner and form an important part in its history. It is tactile to hold and made from a good gauge of silver. A truly elegant piece which was produced by the respected silversmith, Colen Hewer Cheshire.

Condition is excellent. There are no dents, splits or repairs, just the usual light surface scratches and marks commensurate with silver which is 129 years old. It is functional, highly collectible and would compliment any collection. My photographs confirm condition, however further images are available if required.

Hallmarks are crisp and show Birmingham 1895, the maker being Colen Hewer Cheshire. Established in 1865, the business operated from premises in Spencer Street and subsequently Northampton Street, Birmingham. As manufacturing silversmiths, they produced a wide range of products through to their liquidation in 1931.This napkin ring is a superb example of the quality of their workmanship.

The napkin ring measures 4.5cm in diameter and weighs 21g.
