This is a Minolta MD 50mm F2 manual focus lens originally sold for their own brand 35mm cameras circa 1981-84, prior to the introduction of autofocus SLRs, with the MD/MC mount used by Minolta and some other manufacturers such as Seagull. Focusing is manual; aperture control is automatic using a rear linkage, with open aperture metering and auto aperture control supported on bodies with this mount. It has front and rear caps, a skylight filter, and a cloth storage pouch. At 50mm it's a standard lens for a 35mm SLR, a moderate telephoto for a digital camera with an APS-C sensor. It ought to be useful for portraiture and macro work. It should fit most SLRs with an appropriate adapter mount, though some cameras will need a mount with a corrective lens to focus to infinity. MD lenses are very popular for mirrorless SLRs and adapters are readily available for most models.

Condition is generally good mechanically and cosmetically but there is a very fine strand of fungus in the front element. The rear element looks OK and it doesn't appear to be affecting results. The glass is otherwise clean and undamaged, and focusing and the iris etc. work well.

I tested focusing and stop-down on a Minolta X-9 body and everything works well. I took test pictures on a dull afternoon after rain using a Sony A3500 mirrorless camera with MD adapter. The camera was set to 1SO 800 and the lens to F8 for all pictures

As usual I'm starting low and with no reserve. I'm separately selling several other photographic items including lenses, cameras, etc. If you buy multiple items please request an invoice with combined postage before paying, I will always try to bring the costs down as much as I can. I do not make any profit on postage.

International buyers:
The postage price shown is based on an estimate of packed weight, about 300g; if it turns out to be cheaper than expected I will refund the balance. Because of frequent problems with overseas post I have switched to tracked postal services for some items. If combined postage is used for multiple items the tracking fee is charged only once. Please note that eBay will add VAT or sales tax to the final price including postage in the EU and some other countries.
