For the new “Top Gun” movie Mav upgraded to the F/A-18 Hornet as the original F-14 Tomcat was retired by the US Navy in 2006.

This set of decals converts 1:72 F/A-18 Hornets to the full “Top Gun” livery of the aircraft from the new movie with distinctive blue stripes and Fighter Weapons School logos.

Decals include:

  • Blue fuselage and tail fin stripes
  • “Top Gun” Fighter Weapons School logo in various sizes and backgrounds
  • Helmet details
  • Pilot name and call sign in various sizes
  • “00” plane numbers
  • TOP GUN centreline fuel tank logo
  • 3 “MiG-28” conquest emblems in various sizes
  • Spare US flags in various shades

Most of the main decals are provided in duplicate to allow for glitches. 

The pictures show how an Italeri kit may be built and finished with these decals but they can be used with any 1:72 scale kit.

It is assumed the model will be painted with the top fuselage in black.

The decals are printed on high grade clear water slide decal paper. They are produced as an entire sheet and the individual decals are not separate on the transparent layer. The transparent sheet is very thin and conforms well to model contours, although a decal setting solution is still recommended.
