This listing is for a set of 9 napkin fold porcelain game bird luncheon plates by Haviland & Co made for J.E. Caldwell Philadelphia circa 1890's. The plates measure 8 inches square.
The plates are square with a folded napkin corner design in the porcelain. They are glazed on the borders in 4 different colors, magenta, green, yellow, and cobalt blue. They are hand painted at the centers with various detailed landscapes each featuring different game birds. They are further enhanced with heavy applied gold highlights along the edges and folded corners. They are marked on verso "HAVILAND & CO MADE EXPRESSLY FOR J.E. CALDWELL & CO. PHILADELPHIA" along with "HAVILAND & CO LIMOGES" and "H&CO/L" in green.
The plates are in very good condition with some minor wear to the heavy applied gold highlights. They are ready for your home or shop. Please see the many photographs as they are an important part of the description.
