Staffordshire Child Miniature Teapot Scotland ‘FARM’ David Methven & Sons, c 1840

 

Reference:  Doris Lechler, ‘ Volume II Children’s Glass Dishes, China, and Furniture,’ p 60.  “…wonderfully complex transfers with vivid detail including two people with fringed hats talking with a seated person; donkey, farm and mill in distance.”

This is a miniature child’s Teapot decorated in green transfer as described above and with a border of flowers with leaves and an egg and dart detail on the lid and spout; the pattern is usually referred to as ‘THE FARM.’  This teapot is not marked but it was made by David Methven & Sons, Scotland, c 1840. 

 

Dimensions:         6.25” W x 3.75” D x 3” H

       Chip to spout.

 

Please ignore the reflections in the photos.  This Teapot is in very good condition as described above.  There may be crazing, and minor imperfections may appear sporadically, typical of pieces manufactured at this period of time, but nothing that diminishes the display value.  This is a very collectible pattern Teapot made by a well-known pottery in Scotland.  Presented here as found and as is.
