Item.

Extremely rare and unique Adim Zoomorphic face mask. Fine, Old, well-used  and authentic example likely a one-off creation.

Origin.

The Adim, Dim or Orum people of Cross River State Nigeria.

Use.

The Adim people are a very small ethnic group and not much is known about their ethnographic tribal art but information from Adim tribal elders, I obtained in person, indicates this is a mask used primarily for  agricultural harvest and for initiation rites.

Description.

Fine example of a very rare mask, likely a singular commision, from the small Adim ethnic group of Nigeria.

Mask features a centra Zoomorphic face with pronounced and perhaps  Ape-like sharp teeth.

To the top of the mask are two seated figures continuing the Zoomorphic theme of the entire mask morphing human and animal features.

There is a central and symbolic human face to the rear with serrated arm attachment the face mask and two figures that sits atop it.

Stunning patina derived from genuine ageing, use and general wear.

An authentic and used example obtained in person from it's original region of creation and use in Nigeria.

Some wood degradation and minor cracks from wear and age. Altogether a unique and collectible tribal treasure to consider.

Measurement.

65cm high x 25cm wide x 30cm deep.

Postage information.

Please note we are a UK-based seller who trade internationally and mainly by obtaining tribal artifacts directly in their area of creation and use as we rate authenticity higher than anything else per tribal art.

We sometime therefore send items, especially big items, directly from where they were field-collected as this saves duplication of cost and effort for us.

Please allow at least two weeks for delivery after payment is made. Thank you.
