Here is a metamorphic desk. I have had it for nearly twenty years. I bought it for work and now it's at home. I don't know about it being English or Swiss or whatever, but I guess that's not really what matters. If you start searching these desks online, you will see little differences. This is definitely one of the best designs. Some have lamps which are on bendy metal arms. This lamp is hidden under the pull out tray, so it's great for reading etc. It worked when I got it, but the bulb went. I think you will need to replace the fitting and bulb. It's not a difficult job, but I've never got round to doing it. I have photos of the fitting. Condition wise, the outer box is scuffed and marked, so I would recommend rubbing it down and either applying some beeswax or polyurethane. On the other hand if it's always going to be out, you don't need to make a fuss. The desk surface will require a rub down and re-finishing too. I was going to keep the desk and do the work myself but my plans have changed and so it's for sale. It's all there in the pictures. It looks as though one of the lower shelves is missing - lower left - but I think it's slotted in, higher up out of sight. If it's there - that's a bonus. It's difficult to get the desk out at the moment to examine that section. There is no key, which means it does not close perfectly tight, but those little keys are easy enough to find. Easy enough to take off lock and head off to a locksmith.

PS - I am something of an Eeyore eBay seller, but after years of encountering eBay descriptions which just say 'normal wear and tear', which is a meaningless expression and a euphemism for damage, I think we all deserve a bit more.
