The bulbous cranberry glass jug has an intricate aid-etched floral design with wonderful gilt highlights.  The gilt is in superb condition, especially remembering that this jug is wellover 100 years old!

The wonderfully crafted handle and spout are profusely adhorned with sinuously shaped leaves and berries, so typical of the Art Nouveau era.

The handle is marked in full for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) with their Ostrich logo above WMF in a lozenge, 'B' for Brittania metal, 'I/O' for normal thickness of plating and 'as' for antique silver finish.  This format of mark dates the jug to between 1903 and 1910.
