“Chambre claire” or Camera Lucida with 9 lenses. Ca 1920. France

·       Camera Lucida or Chambre Claire Universelle 9 lenses (3 are missing)

·       Box 29 x 6 x 5 cm - Circa 1920

·       To obtain sharp images, to enlarge or reduce them, one of the twelve rectangular lenses present in the case is attached to the prism.

·       It basically consists of a small prism attached to the end of a telescopic stem. The jib crane is fitted with a vice foot allowing it to be fixed to the edge of a table. this device thus formed makes it possible to superimpose, by aiming in the prism, the image of the subject which one wishes to draw and the sheet of drawing paper. To reproduce the subject, simply follow its virtual image with the tip of a pencil. The instrument serving the same purpose as the dark room, already existing, it was named light room, by opposition, because the images are formed there in an illuminated space.
