A genuine Edwardian girdle from a large collection saved then stored for many years from a factory closure.

This is a lovely example of an Edwardian girdle pre Lastex which was not developed until the late 1920s and prior to the development of the wraparound girdles. This coutil cotton example is different in shape to the Victorian corsets yet still retains the metal front busk and back lacing. Note no stays around the sides and with wonderful button front fasteners and interior vertical tapes.

The condition is generally very good, there are a few rust marks especially around the garter straps. Note they are not elasticated like later examples. If you move the position of the straps it’s likely there will be heavier rust marks underneath. Some light yellowing to the channels.
